Prof. Dr. Dujjai Chaiwanichsiri, Director of the National Blood Center, Thai Red Cross Society, stated that in the past month, hospitals nationwide have used an average of 7,305 units of blood per day, but have been able to supply only 3,237 units per day, or only 44 percent of the demand. As a result, a large amount of emergency blood reserves have had to be withdrawn.
